Eerie Muromachi Scene
Eerie Muromachi Scene
The Muromachi period (1336–1573) was a pivotal era in Japanese history, marked by the rule of the Ashikaga shogunate. Named after the Muromachi district of Kyoto, where the shogunate was based, this period saw the rise of samurai power and the development of distinct cultural and artistic forms. Zen Buddhism greatly influenced the arts, leading to the creation of traditional tea ceremonies, ikebana (flower arranging), and Noh theater. Despite cultural flourishing, the Muromachi period was also a time of political instability, including the Ōnin War (1467–1477) and the subsequent Warring States period (Sengoku), which fragmented Japan into competing domains.
